Vortex Coating

The world can be harsh on surfaces, constantly wearing them down and causing damage. Standard paints and coatings often fail to withstand extreme or abrasive conditions. As coatings wear away, the underlying material becomes exposed to the elements, leading to rust, decay, and the potential failure of critical equipment. We specialize in applying premium coatings that deliver exceptional performance and visual appeal, ensuring your assets are well-protected. Whether you're looking to safeguard a truck bed, warehouse flooring, or have a custom industrial application, we have the perfect coating to defend your investment.

NOTHING PROTECTS LIKE VORTEX

One Coating. Multiple Solutions

Vortex’s unique polyurea coatings can be applied to a wide variety of surfaces. Protecting everything from your truck bed to your pipeline.

1 What is Vortex?

The Vortex Liner is a blend of Polyurethane and Polyurea materials. It is a two component, solvent free, and backed with over 30 years of coating technology. This ratio delivers a very tough liner to protect the surface, but is flexible enough so that is both stain and impact resistant. Buildable from 1/8″ to 16″ only vortex dries in seconds, resulting in a chemical and impact resistant coating that will last for years to come.

2 What's the difference between Polyurea and Polyurethane?

Polyurea and polyurethane are both polymers used as protective coatings, but they differ in their composition, curing times, and specific applications.

Key Differences:

  1. Curing Time:

    • Polyurea cures almost instantly (within seconds), making it ideal for projects where downtime must be minimized.
    • Polyurethane cures more slowly (over hours), giving more time for even and thorough application.
  2. Flexibility vs. Hardness:

    • Polyurea is highly flexible, capable of stretching and contracting without cracking. This makes it ideal for surfaces that move or expand, such as pipelines and roofs.
    • Polyurethane offers a balance between flexibility and hardness. While less flexible than polyurea, it’s more resistant to impact and abrasion, making it suitable for high-traffic or industrial environments.
  3. Durability and Resistance:

    • Both materials are highly durable and resistant to chemicals, but polyurea excels in extreme environments, such as wastewater treatment facilities or heavy-duty machinery, due to its fast curing and elasticity.
    • Polyurethane is also durable but often chosen for its aesthetic potential and balanced toughness, making it ideal for showrooms, residential interiors, or automotive parts.
  4. Application Conditions:

    • Polyurea can be applied in more challenging conditions, such as high humidity or low temperatures.
    • Polyurethane may require more controlled conditions for optimal curing.

Key Takeaway: This special blend is giving you the hardening strength of Polyurethane and the almost instant cure time of Polyurea.

3 Do you need to bring in a truckload of large equipment to apply Vortex Coating?

The Vortex KV-5006 uses 110v power, fully self-contained and on board heating making it truly portable. Using both the KV-5006 with Vortex’s specially blended material you will be creating liners that can withstand the test of time.

The exclusive Vortex Liner material literally dries in seconds. Imagine applying a spray on liner material from an 1/8″ to 18″ thick and have it set up in seconds. The process is simple and the Vortex™ spray system was developed with ease of operation as well.
